Gift Guide for the Non Sports Fan Man

With Christmas shopping in full swing I wanted to help out those ladies that are struggling to find the perfect gift for the man in their life, be it a husband, boyfriend, or father. But this list isn't for the typical man who loves or plays sports, it's for the tiny percentage of them out there that don't partake in the sports world. Or maybe your fella does love sports but you want to get him something different this year, look no further I've got you covered.

Mr. Homestead isn't a sports fan which isn't common but I think there's more men like him out there than we realize and it makes it a bit harder to shop for him.  He's a fan of working with his hands in the garage, whether it's fabricating or working under the hood of a truck.  Ever since the first Christmas we shared it's been difficult for me to shop for him although now that we've been together for 14 years it's gotten a lot easier. In those 14 years I've searched for gift guides for my type of man and could never find one. So I thought why not come up with my own this year and help those ladies out there that are new to buying for the non sports guy. Here's a list of some gift and stocking stuffer ideas for the man in your life.

The Tale of Two Goats

Well we've had Lily and Belle for two weeks now and they are doing wonderful.  I had a bit of a scare when we picked them up from the eccentric goat breeding lady.  The lady picked up one goat and Casey picked up the other one and when he put them in the back of the car Belle let out this horrific scream, the goat not the lady.  Casey says I froze up and my eyes were all bugged out..I don't recall this but he is still getting a kick out of it.  I did stop for a second because I thought she was hurt.  She was just pissed we were taking her away from her family. The car ride home.            When we got them home and let them lose onto the back of our property they dashed for the fence and wanted nothing to do with us.  They relaxed more as the day went by and will come up to us and sniff us.  All the work we put into making them a comfy shelter/bed and they wouldn't sleep in it...they are usin...

Keeping Busy

We are getting so close to having the garden all done and planted.  I love gardening but I want to move on to other chores.  Hopefully just one more week of transplanting and the garden will be in.  The cantaloupe seeds I saved and planted have popped out of the ground. I wasn't sure about them but so far it's a success which makes me smile.  The cantaloupe sprouts saying hello. The peas are growing fast, so we put up some T-posts and fencing for a trellis for them to climb up.  The T-posts we already had and the fencing we acquired from family that didn't want it anymore.  I took video to show how we wrapped the fencing onto the posts and I'll be posting that on our you tube channel.  The drip system is all laid out and in place for the most part.  There was an unexpected chore that came up this week. The trellis for the peas.  I was minding my own business doing the dishes the other morning when I realized our water pressure had dwindled...

Busy Bees

I'm trying to catch up on here, we've been so busy lately.  We get going on the homestead with chores for days then we have to go back to the real world of our actual paying jobs and then next thing I know it's a new week.  Last week we did some much needed maintenance on the homestead of trimming up some trees. That was an all week project with a little work on the garden. We have at least a handful of trees that are in need of some desperate trimming. We got to two of them and the process is still continuing. We still need to take what we trimmed off to a local tree limb drop off site. It's amazing how much better and happier the trees look.  Besides trimming them up for landscaping reasons we also did it to discourage the deer from hanging out under them. We don't want them getting comfortable on our property close to our garden. The first tree was pretty simple of just cutting limbs down. The second tree was more challenging, it didn't want to let go...
